Arterial Aneurysm Surgery Research
Endovascular Surgery Research
The convergence of advanced imaging and endovascular surgery has revolutionized care for patients with vascular disease.
Before 1994, patients with enlarged abdominal aortic aneurysms required extensive, invasive open surgery and prolonged convalescence. Today, these same patients-even those with the most life-threatening aneurysms-can expect to be treated with a minimally invasive procedure (approximately 1 hour of surgery) and to be discharged from NYU the following morning.
Working with interventional radiologists and biomedical engineers, NYU's vascular surgeons pioneered the multidisciplinary approach that made this treatment possible. This cutting-edge, collaborative effort is one example of how our surgeons push the limits of medical innovation to create and advance the best possible treatment methods.
Vascular surgeons at NYU perform more endovascular reconstructions than any other hospital in the United States, with excellent surgery outcomes.
Clinical Trials for Arterial Aneurysms
Zenith ® TX2™ Thoracic TAA Endovascular Graft Clinical Study Continued Access
Collects data regarding the Zenith ® TX2™ TAA Endovascular Graft in elective treatment of patients with descending thoracic aortic aneurysms.
Positive Impact of Endovascular Options for Treating Aneurysms Early: The Pivotal Study
Seeks to determine whether repairing small aneurysms using the AneuRx AAA Stent Graft is superior to serial imaging surveillance with respect to the frequent rupture or aneurysm-related death over a 3-year follow-up period.
Evaluation of the Medtronic Vascular Talent Thoracic Stent Graft System for Treatment of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms
5-year follow-up for patients who have had an endovascular repair of a descending thoracic aneurysm with the Talent Thoracic Stent Graft System.
Clinical Study Comparing Use of the Modified Bifurcated EXCLUDER Endoprosthesis to Open Surgical Repair in the Primary Treatment of Infrarenal Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
5-year follow-up of patients who have received the Excluder Endograft for treatment of their infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm.
