Holter Monitor

A Holter monitor shows changes in rhythm over the course of a 24-hour period that may not be detected during a resting or exercise ECG. If your doctor wants you to have this test, you will go about your usual daily activities (except for showering or bathing) while wearing a small, portable recorder that connects to electrode stickers on your chest. You come back to NYU's Heart Rhythm Center the next day so the information can be retrieved and analyzed. The Heart Rhythm Center utilizes the latest digital Holter monitors, which store information on a computer chip rather than on a tape. As a result, they are lighter to carry than conventional Holter monitors.
